What is Organisation Design?
Organisation Design is the intentional process of designing a company to enable it to effectively deliver the business strategy.
There are typically 3 phases:
- Designing organisational framework
- Developing framework details
- Implementing new design
Why happens in Phase I?
Organisation Design Phase I focuses on answering a set of key questions, linked to your strategy, that inform your final organisation design.
Your leadership team explores options & concludes best answers through a series of 2.5-3 days (or 5-6 half-day) workshops, run over a 2-3 month period.
What Will We Achieve?
Clarity and decisions on:
- Organisational capabilities needed to succeed
- Structure & organisational roles
- Key processes & lateral co-ordination routes
- Performance Rewards
- Key people profiles, recruitment & development
What Does That do for Us?
Your strategy maps how you believe your business will succeed in the market, aka competitive advantage. Organisational capabilities are the building blocks of competitive advantage.
How you design your organisation determines whether you gain that competitive advantage or not.
Lack of awareness of, or Inability to develop, those organisational capabilities erodes strategic success.
Who Should be Attend Phase I?
Phase I of organisation design is the responsibility of your leadership team. Key questions, such as:
- How customer-centric is our strategy really?
- What are our design criteria?
- How will information flow around the business?
will be explored and concluded. Given that these answers will inform other aspects of designing your organisation, your leadership team should all attend in good faith.
How is this workshop delivered?
Virtual or in-person, depending on your location and travel budget.
