Turning Strategy into Operational Execution

SUPPORTING BUSINESSES NAVIGATE PAIN POINTS OF EACH STAGE OF GROWTH

Strategic Planning & Roadmap

What is Strategic Planning?

Strategic planning is the next step after creating your strategy.  It sets out a clear roadmap of what needs to be done & in what order, so you, your business & your strategy are set up for success.

Do we really need a strategic plan?

Picture this:

You've created your strategy & you're all hi-5ing each other, feeling good.  You all go back to your desks and start imagining the next steps to deliver the strategy.

In the absence of no alignment discussion, you head off east; your CFO heads off west; your operations manager heads off south...within months, you're all frustrated with each other and the strategy.

This regularly happens.

For the sake of 2-3 days investment, don't do this to yourself, your team or your business.

How long does this take?

If we've worked together on developing strategy, a one-day workshop should do it.

If you have a strategy but recognise the pain of no strategic planning, probably 2 days.

Both options require write ups.

Can we just do it ourselves?

Yes, of course you can...however, having an external facilitator ensures:

  • Right conversations take place
  • Everyone's voice gets heard
  • Real friction points are addressed
  • Right roles held accountable for appropriate responsibilities
  • Mechanism to resolve conflicting priorities & ways to find agreement

How is this workshop delivered?

It can be virtually or in-person, depending on your  location and travel budget.  It can be run as 1 day or split over 2 days.

If we already have a strategy, can we still do a planning session?

Yes, of course.  You would need to share your strategy & any supporting delivery plans.  However, be warned, many strategies are called strategies but they're more like a wishful "to do" list.

Importance of Strategic Planning

For a strategy to be delivered, it needs to be broken down into projects and assigned to teams.  A strategy becomes an input to performance objectives.  However, many companies regularly ignore this link & the action plan is left to chance. Be different.

The Human & Lack of Planning

Without a clear plan to get from A to B, humans will:

  • Figure out own path from A to B, ignoring others
  • Start side conversations with peers, to agree a path
  • Do nothing due to not knowing what to do

Each option will cause some level of friction...is that where you want your team's energy going?
