" As part of a wider engagement with Bank of Ireland Securities Services (relating to the implementation of new fund accounting technology), we asked Irial to facilitate a process review across a number of operational areas. This review was particularly important in the context of the newly installed fund accounting technology within the business. Some 200 plus employees use the system on a daily basis, and it was crucially important that the processes surrounding the technology were flexible enough to meet the changing needs of the business. Irial led a programme of engagement across all of the operational teams to get the users to articulate how they felt the revised processes should operate. This engagement process was very important as it gave users a sense of being able to contribute to the determination of the operating processes for the business, rather than perceiving that anything was being imposed on them.
Irial's role in this engagement process brought a lot of value to the business. Acting in a facilitation role, she brought together disparate operational teams and contributed in no small part to the creation of a consensus as to what the revised operating processes of the business should look like in the new environment. This ultimately led to a smoother implementation phase as significant common ground had been created.
One of Irial's strengths lies in her ability to bring people together and to facilitate discussion and debate towards the achievement of a common position. The exercise was ultimately a success from the business’ perspective, due in no small part to Irial’s involvement in it.
